Albalina, originating from Fort Albany First Nation on the western shores of James Bay, stands at the head of the Mushkegowuk Development Corporation (MDC) as its CEO. With her educational foundation, including a Bachelor of Business Administration – Honors from Trent University and a graduate certificate in Extractive Industries from Queen’s University, she brings over twenty years of diverse experience. This experience spans senior roles in the mining sector, work in the for profit and non-profit sectors, along with holding regional board positions, enriching her leadership approach.
In her work as an economic champion, Albalina has demonstrated a deep commitment to regional development and capacity building. Currently, as a director on the Timmins Chamber of Commerce, she blends her deep understanding of indigenous community dynamics with broad sectoral insights promoting economic reconciliation efforts and outcomes.
At MDC, she focuses on generating profits and fostering sustainable development for its six Indigenous Partners; underlining the corporate vision, commitment to economic prosperity and self-reliance of the Indigenous Partners.
